El Roi

“She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” (Genesis 16:13)

Do you feel lonely, like you’re in an arid wilderness? Do you wonder if anyone notices, or if anybody cares? God does. And He doesn’t just see your location, He sees you; all of you—your heart, mind, and soul.

Empty and thirsty, Hagar collapsed by a well. It was beside that source of quenchless water that she discovered Who God is—He’s El Roi,“The God Who sees me.” And just like He saw Hagar, God sees you. El Roi knows the emptiness you’re feeling, and He’s drawing you to Himself, to the only Well that can satisfy.
